Dave's story

Hi! My name is Dave. I have been a Christian since December 1996. I had always believed in God but never really commited myself until I finally gave my life to Jesus having returned to church after many years of absence. In October 2006 I was taken ill and spent one week poorly at home and then a further eight weeks in hospital.

Initially it seemed that nothing was being done to help me and I lost 3 stone in weight and became very ill indeed and Zoe (my wife) thought she might lose me. At the time I was reading James 5:14-15 and Zoe prompted me to get the church elders to come and “pour oil on me”. The day came and the elders arrived. However, the Pastor Brian had forgotten to bring the oil! Zoe rushed up to the hospital kitchens and managed to borrow some chip fat oil. Lovely! The oil was duly poured and prayers for my recovery were said. The very next day new treatment was started and over the next few weeks I started to recover and was discharged the week before Christmas. Many might look at this and think “what a coincidence”, however I prefer to think of it as a “God-incidence” for which I am truly grateful. Jesus is the healer and he can be trusted with and in all things.
